The Kabul Tribune (KT)-- At least 42 children were injured Monday evening in an explosion at an education center in the Dasht-e Barchi area of Kabul, the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan said.
The children, aged between 9 and 14, were injured in the
blast, according to UNAMA.
The Taliban said the explosion was caused by a grenade. An
investigation is underway to establish the circumstances of the incident.
UNAMA expressed concern over the incident and called for an
investigation. It also stressed that schools and education centers must be kept
safe.
The incident comes as children and families in Afghanistan
continue to face serious security risks while seeking access to education.
