The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Saudi Arabia has announced that Friday, March 20, 2026, will mark the first day of Eid al-Fitr, following the confirmed sighting of the moon, according to reports from Haramain Sharifain.
The decision was made by Saudi Arabia’s Supreme Court after verification of the moon sighting, with Eid prayers and related ceremonies set to take place nationwide on Friday.
Meanwhile, in Afghanistan, the Taliban Supreme Court has not yet made a decision regarding the date of Eid al-Fitr. Authorities are expected to announce their final decision after evaluating moon-sighting reports.
Different countries often announce Eid on varying dates due to differences in moon-sighting methods and geographical factors, leading to occasional variations in observance across the Muslim world.
