Heavy Snow and Rain Forecast in 12 Provinces, Taliban Meteorological Department Says

The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Heavy snowfall and rainfall are forecast in 12 provinces across Afghanistan today and Friday, Feb. 13, the Taliban-controlled Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation announced.

The affected provinces include Badghis, Ghor, Sar-e-Pul, Bamyan, Faryab, Jawzjan, Balkh, Kunduz, Baghlan, Takhar and Badakhshan, according to the statement.

The Taliban’s Meteorological Department said snowfall is expected to range between 10 and 50 centimeters, while rainfall is forecast between 10 and 30 millimeters. Experts warned of possible flash floods in warmer areas.

Relatively strong winds with speeds of 50 to 75 kilometers per hour are also expected in central and northwestern parts of the country. Authorities have advised residents and travelers to take necessary precautions.
