The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Pakistan’s presidential spokesman Murtaza Solangi warned the Taliban against what he described as cross-border provocations, saying statement that Pakistan would respond to violations of its territory.
He said that Islamabad would not be intimidated or diverted from its diplomatic efforts for regional and global peace. Solangi did not provide further details about the drones in the statement.
“If the illegitimate Taliban regime in Kabul believes that a handful of flying toys sent across the international border can intimidate Pakistan, it is gravely mistaken,” Solangi said.
The Taliban have rejected allegations that their authorities launched drones against Pakistan.
Taliban Deputy Minister of Information and Culture Hayatullah Muhajir Farahi described reports that eight drones had been launched by the Afghan government as “baseless rumors.” He said the claims were an unsuccessful attempt to strengthen Pakistan’s narrative at a United Nations meeting in New York.
Meanwhile, Solangi also criticized the Taliban’s record on women and girls, saying the group had restricted their access to education, employment and fundamental freedoms. He further accused the Taliban of repressing religious and ethnic minorities and said tensions with Pakistan were being used to divert attention from domestic issues and commitments under the 2020 Doha Agreement.
The exchange comes amid heightened tensions between Pakistan and the Taliban administration over security concerns and alleged cross-border activity.
Solangi said Pakistan would continue pursuing diplomatic efforts but warned that what he described as further provocations could lead to consequences. He also argued that continued confrontation would increase the Taliban administration’s isolation.
The Taliban administration has previously rejected accusations that Afghan territory is being used for attacks against Pakistan, while Islamabad has repeatedly called on Kabul to take action against militant groups it says operate from Afghanistan.
