The Kabul Tribune (KT) — One person was killed and 30 others were injured after a passenger bus overturned on the Kabul–Kandahar highway in Ghazni province, according to the Taliban's provincial authorities.
Maywand Shah Ahmadzai, spokesman for the Taliban governor's office in Ghazni, said the accident occurred on July 12 in the Pash Kandi area of Gilan district when a 580-model passenger bus overturned.
According to Ahmadzai, all of the injured were transported to hospitals for treatment. Preliminary findings indicate that driver negligence was the likely cause of the crash.
The Kabul–Kandahar highway is one of Afghanistan's busiest and most important transport corridors and records numerous traffic accidents each year. Authorities have attributed many of the crashes to reckless driving, speeding, poor road conditions, and mechanical problems with vehicles.
