The Kabul Tribune (KT) — U.S. President Donald Trump warned on Monday that Washington would take action if Iran does not comply with a recent agreement, saying, “I will do what I have to do,” Reuters reported.
“If Iran doesn't live up to their agreement, or if they're
not behaving, I will do what I have to do,” Trump told reporters.
Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian signed an
interim deal last week, more than three months after U.S. and Israeli attacks
on Iran and Tehran’s retaliatory strikes on Israel and Gulf states hosting U.S.
bases.
Trump said Iran was expected to use funds being unfrozen
under the agreement to purchase food exclusively from the United States.
“All that money's coming back in the form of purchases of
food which they desperately need,” Trump said, adding that the arrangement
would benefit U.S. farmers.
The recent conflict involving Iran, Israel and U.S. forces
has resulted in thousands of casualties and widespread displacement, while also
disrupting global markets and driving up oil prices.
Tensions between Iran and Western countries have remained
high for years, with disputes over security, regional influence and economic
sanctions continuing to shape diplomatic efforts and periodic escalations.
