The Kabul Tribune (KT) — US Vice President JD Vance has traveled to Switzerland to participate in talks with Iran, focusing on Tehran’s nuclear program and a potential ceasefire in Lebanon.
Vance said the discussions would center on Iran’s nuclear activities as well as efforts to secure a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon.
The US vice president, serving under President Donald Trump, said he is expected to remain in Switzerland for one or two days.
He added that the purpose of the visit is to advance negotiations on Iran’s nuclear program and to support diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions in Lebanon.
Responding to a question about whether the situation in Lebanon could affect the talks, Vance said conditions have improved compared with previous days and that some tensions have eased.
Earlier, an Iranian delegation led by Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi had also traveled to Switzerland for the negotiations.
