The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Fox News reported that a shooting near a security checkpoint at the White House prompted a temporary lockdown as Donald Trump was inside the residence at the time.

According to the report, the incident occurred when a suspect approached the checkpoint, leading to an exchange in which U.S. Secret Service personnel opened fire.

The suspect, identified as 21-year-old Nasire Best from Maryland, was shot by Secret Service agents and later died while being transported to George Washington University Hospital.

The report said one civilian bystander was injured during the shooting and received medical treatment, while no Secret Service personnel were harmed.

Officials told Fox News that the suspect had prior encounters with the Secret Service, including alleged threats, and had a history of mental health issues.

Authorities later secured the area and lifted the lockdown after determining there was no further threat.
