The Kabul Tribune (KT) — António Guterres, secretary-general of the United Nations, said Africa’s vast potential has been constrained by what he described as an “unfair” international system.
Writing on the social media platform X, Guterres said the situation must change and called for global efforts to build a system that provides Africa with adequate voice, resources and representation.
He stressed that for a long time, Africa has been deprived of fair access to resources, participation and representation within the global system.
The remarks come amid growing criticism in recent years of the structure of the international system and global institutions, particularly over what critics describe as inequality in representation and the distribution of resources.
