The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Canada’s Prime Minister Mark Carney discussed recent regional developments during a phone call on Wednesday, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
The two leaders reviewed bilateral relations between Saudi Arabia and Canada, including areas of cooperation, and explored ways to strengthen ties across multiple sectors, the agency reported.
They also discussed the latest developments in the region, as well as their security and economic implications at both regional and international levels, the report added.
The call comes amid ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and shifting global economic dynamics, where energy markets, security concerns, and diplomatic alignments remain key issues. Saudi Arabia, a major global oil producer, plays a central role in regional stability and international energy supply, while Canada has been increasingly engaged in global economic and security discussions with its allies.
Relations between Riyadh and Ottawa have experienced fluctuations in recent years but have shown signs of gradual improvement through diplomatic engagement and cooperation.
