The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Iran’s parliament speaker, said a ceasefire would only be meaningful if a naval blockade is lifted.
In a post on X, Ghalibaf said a real ceasefire cannot be achieved unless what he described as “war-mongering on all fronts” comes to an end.
He added that in the event of a “serious” violation of the ceasefire, reopening the Strait of Hormuz would not be possible.
Ghalibaf also said the opposing side has failed to achieve its objectives through what he called “military aggression” and would not succeed through “bullying.”
His remarks come as Donald Trump previously said a ceasefire with Iran would remain in place until Tehran presents its proposal and negotiations are completed.
