The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said negotiations conducted under threats are unacceptable, accusing the United States of attempting to pressure Tehran into submission during ongoing tensions.

Ghalibaf, who is also a member of Iran’s negotiating team with Washington, said the United States is using pressure tactics and ceasefire violations to steer talks toward what he described as “surrender.”

He said U.S. President Donald Trump is seeking to alter the conditions of negotiations in Washington’s favor or create justification for a new conflict by employing measures such as blockades and escalating actions.

Tehran does not accept negotiations under threat, Ghalibaf said, describing such an approach as inconsistent with diplomatic principles.

He added that Iran has prepared what he called “new cards” over the past two weeks for potential use on the battlefield, signaling a possible escalation if talks fail.

The remarks come amid continued tensions between Iran and the United States, with uncertainty surrounding the outcome of negotiations between the two sides
