The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Pakistani media outlet Geo News reported that eight members of the same family were killed and five others injured after a fire broke out following a gas pipeline explosion in Haripur district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
According to officials, the incident occurred at the Hattar
Industrial Estate, where the blaze erupted after a gas pipeline burst,
triggering a large fire.
Shafiullah Gandapur, the district police officer of Haripur,
said police, emergency responders and fire brigade units from five districts
rushed to the scene and worked together to contain the fire.
He added that all the victims belonged to the same family.
Five bodies were transferred to Kot Najibullah Hospital, while three others
were taken to a trauma center. The injured were also shifted to nearby medical
facilities for treatment.
Industrial accidents, particularly involving gas
infrastructure, have raised safety concerns in parts of Pakistan, where aging
systems and limited oversight have contributed to recurring incidents.
Authorities have faced increasing pressure to improve safety standards and
emergency preparedness to prevent similar tragedies.
