The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Trade crossings between Afghanistan and Pakistan, which were closed for more than 10 days following border clashes, are expected to reopen soon, Pakistani media reported Wednesday.
According to Geo News, trucks stranded on the Afghan side
have started returning as both countries move toward reopening the routes.
Pakistani customs officials said that beginning Wednesday,
only empty Pakistani trucks and Afghan nationals transporting goods into
Afghanistan would be allowed to cross.
The report added that preparations are underway to reopen
the key Torkham crossing.
The Torkham, Kharlachi, Angoor Ada and Ghulam Khan crossings
were shut down earlier this month after border skirmishes between Taliban and
Pakistani forces.
The closures left hundreds of travelers, including those
with valid visas and passports, stranded on both sides of the border.
