The Kabul Tribune (KT) — The Taliban executed a man in public in western Afghanistan’s Badghis province on Thursday after convicting him of murder, the group’s Supreme Court said in a statement.
The execution took place at the central stadium in Badghis,
where the man, identified as Ismail, son of Ebrahim, was put to death in qisas
— retributive justice — for the killings of two people, Dost Mohammad and Gulbargah,
according to the court.
It was not immediately clear how the execution was carried
out.
Since returning to power in August 2021, the Taliban have
resumed public executions, despite widespread international criticism. The
group has defended the practice, calling it consistent with Islamic law.
