The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Iran exported more than 3 million tons of goods to Afghanistan in the first half of this year, with the Mahirud border crossing in South Khorasan province handling the largest share, officials said.
Mohammadreza Hashemi, governor of South Khorasan, told
Iranian media that of the total 3.052 million tons exported, more than 1.032
million tons passed through the Mahirud border.
He said the exports were valued at $1.155 billion, with over
$350 million shipped through Mahirud.
Hashemi added that goods Iran needs but does not produce
domestically are imported from Afghanistan, underscoring what he called the
“balance and deepening of trade relations” between the two countries.
