The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Afghanistan’s under-19 cricket team will tour Bangladesh later this month for a five-match Youth One Day International (ODI) series, the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) announced Thursday.
The series will be played from October 28 to November 9 in Bogura
and Rajshahi, providing Afghanistan’s young cricketers with vital international
experience ahead of the ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2026, which will be
hosted by Zimbabwe and Namibia.
According to the ACB, the team will depart Kabul on October
20 and hold a week-long conditioning camp in Bangladesh before facing the home
side in the opening match on October 28.
The first two matches will be played in Bogura, while the remaining
three are scheduled at the RDS Cricket Ground in Rajshahi on October 28, 31,
and November 3, 6, and 9, respectively.
“This series will play a crucial role in preparing our U19
squad for the upcoming World Cup,” said Naseeb Khan, the ACB’s chief executive
officer. “It could also unearth promising talents who may later advance to
higher levels, including the A team and the senior national side.”
The ACB said the “Future Stars” recently concluded intensive
preparatory camps across Nangarhar and Khost provinces, focusing on physical
conditioning, skill development, and intra-squad practice matches to strengthen
team cohesion and readiness.
Afghanistan’s youth program has been an important feeder
system for the national team, which has seen a rapid rise in international
cricket in recent years.
