The Kabul Tribune (KT) ــOfficials from the Kandahar Chamber of Commerce and Investment say that, for the first time, a shipment of pomegranates from the province has been exported to Russia.
Abdul Wahid Siddiqi, head of the
Chamber, said on Sunday (October 26) that the consignment was sent to Russia
through the Torghundi border crossing, and it is estimated that nearly 200 tons
of pomegranates will be exported to the country this year.
According to Siddiqi, the exports
were made possible following several months of discussions with Russian
authorities. He expressed hope that this development would create new economic
opportunities for local farmers and traders.
The development comes as the Spin
Boldak border crossing remains closed for exports to Pakistan
