The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Afghan migrant workers can enter Iran only through official work visas obtained via the Iranian embassy in Kabul and under the supervision of Iranian employers, a senior official said, according to Iranian media reports.
Majid Ahmadi, director general of foreign nationals and
immigrants affairs, said the new arrangement — known as the “Kafeel Plan” —
would benefit Afghan workers, Iranian employers, and the wider Iranian society.
Ahmadi emphasized that Iranian employers must apply through
the Ministry of Labor’s website, upload the required documents, and register
requests to hire foreign workers in physically demanding or hazardous jobs.
Permits will be issued after a review process, he said.
He added that migrant workers must enter Iran without
accompanying family members. Their work visas will be valid for nine months,
after which they must return to Afghanistan. Those without criminal records may
reapply the following year.
Earlier this week, another Iranian Interior Ministry
official said that work visas for Afghan migrants would not be renewed after
their nine-month term expires.
