The Kabul Tribune (KT) —The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has announced that it will host the West Indies for a three-match T20 International series in the United Arab Emirates from January 19 to 22, 2026.
The opening match is set for January 19, followed by the
second encounter on January 21 and the final game on January 22. The series
will serve as key preparation for both sides ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World
Cup 2026, which is scheduled to take place less than a month after the series
in India and Sri Lanka.
“This series against the West Indies provides an excellent
opportunity for our team to finalize their combination and strengthen their
readiness for the upcoming global event,” said ACB CEO Naseeb Khan. “Facing a
quality West Indies side will help fine-tune our plans and boost our confidence
going into the World Cup.”
Miles Bascombe, Cricket West Indies’ Director of Cricket,
said the tour would be crucial for their preparations. “Competing in
subcontinental conditions against a strong opponent like Afghanistan will allow
us to sharpen our strategies and give our players valuable experience ahead of
the World Cup.”
The three T20Is will be played in the United Arab Emirates,
with the first match on January 19, the second on January 21, and the third and
final encounter on January 22.
