The Kabul Tribune (KT)— Iranian authorities have reportedly executed a 25-year-old Afghan prisoner at the central prison in Zahedan, a human rights group said.
The Hengaw Organization for Human Rights reported that
authorities carried out the execution of Khalil Afghan early Sunday, Sept. 13.
The group said Afghan was sentenced to death in a joint case with a 34-year-old
Baluch man, identified as Asghar Pishahang.
According to Hengaw, the two men were arrested in 2022 in
Konarak County in Iran’s Sistan and Baluchestan province and were initially
transferred to a prison in Chabahar.
Hengaw said Afghan was later transferred to the central
prison in Zahedan, where the sentence was carried out. The organization said
Pishahang’s execution had already taken place.
Iranian authorities have not publicly confirmed the reported
execution or provided details about the case.
Hengaw did not provide further information about the charges
against the two men or the circumstances that led to their death sentences.
