The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Mirwais Azizi, chairman of the Azizi Group, said Azizi Energy has signed a cooperation agreement with China's Shanghai Electric to supply equipment and critical components for power projects with a total capacity of 3,000 megawatts over the next four years.
Azizi said the agreement was signed during the second day of his visit to China after meeting Shanghai Electric's leadership, including Chairman Xian Zhelong.
According to Azizi, Shanghai Electric is one of the world's leading manufacturers of power generation equipment, producing technologies for thermal power plants fueled by coal and natural gas, as well as renewable energy projects, including solar and wind power.
He said Azizi Energy has previously worked with Shanghai Electric to procure major equipment for three solar power plants currently under construction in Kabul, Parwan and Ghazni provinces, with a combined generation capacity of 330 MW.
Azizi said he expects commercial cooperation between the two companies to expand significantly in the coming years, extending beyond renewable energy projects to include thermal power generation and equipment for electricity substations.
The newly signed agreement covers the supply of equipment and critical components for energy projects totaling 3,000 MW over the next four years, according to Azizi.
