The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Pakistan's Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested four employees of the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) in Karachi over allegations that they helped issue fraudulent identity documents to Afghan citizens, Dawn reported.
According to the report, the FIA said preliminary investigations indicate the suspects were involved in facilitating the issuance of fake identity documents for Afghan nationals, altering official records and engaging in other illegal activities.
The agency added that about a month ago, three other NADRA employees were arrested on allegations of issuing a national identity card to an Afghan citizen who was in prison.
The arrests come as Pakistan continues to intensify its deportation campaign against Afghan migrants, with thousands of Afghans reportedly being forced to leave the country each day.
