The Kabul Tribune (KT) — U.S. President Donald Trump compared American military casualties from several major wars with those from the recent military conflict with Iran in a post published Monday on his Truth Social platform.

Trump wrote on July 21 that the 20-year war in Afghanistan resulted in about 2,000 U.S. military deaths, while the nine-year Iraq War claimed 4,600 American lives. He added that the Vietnam War, which lasted 19 years and five months, left 58,220 U.S. service members dead, and the Korean War, fought over three years and one month, resulted in 36,574 American fatalities.

He also claimed that what he referred to as the "Venezuela war," which he said lasted one day, resulted in no casualties. Trump further asserted that 18 U.S. service members were killed during the recent four-month military conflict with Iran.

Trump did not provide additional details about the figures or explain the purpose of publishing the comparison.
