The Kabul Tribune (KT) — The foreign ministers of Pakistan and Canada discussed the situation in Afghanistan, regional security, and what they described as the continuing threat of terrorism, according to a joint statement released by Pakistan's Foreign Ministry.
The ministry said Pakistani Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar and Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand exchanged views on regional peace and security challenges, including developments in Afghanistan.
According to the statement, the two sides emphasized expanding security cooperation to combat terrorism and transnational organized crime.
The statement also said Canada will continue supporting Pakistan's counterterrorism efforts.
The talks come as Pakistan has repeatedly alleged that militant groups are operating from Afghan territory under Taliban control to carry out attacks inside Pakistan. The Taliban have consistently rejected the allegations, saying they will not allow Afghanistan's territory to be used against any country.
