The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Six people were killed and eight others were injured after a pickup truck carrying civilians overturned in eastern Afghanistan's Nangarhar province, Taliban authorities said Saturday.
The accident occurred in the Marghi area of Pachir Agam district when a Datsun pickup truck overturned, according to a statement from the media office of the Taliban-appointed governor of Nangarhar.
Aali Gul Shaib, the Taliban district governor of Pachir Agam, said the dead included four women and two men.
The eight injured were taken to the district hospital in neighboring Rodat district for treatment, he said.
The cause of the crash was not immediately clear.
Road accidents are common in Afghanistan, where poorly maintained roads, aging vehicles, speeding and reckless driving frequently contribute to deadly crashes.
