The Kabul Tribune (KT) — U.N. Secretary-General António Guterres has called for meaningful reforms to make the United Nations more effective in responding to growing global instability and increasingly complex challenges.
In a post on X, Guterres said the U.N. can fulfill its mission only if it is willing to adapt to changing global circumstances.
"In an age of profound instability and complex challenges, the U.N. can only deliver on its promise if we dare to evolve," he wrote.
Guterres urged efforts to make the organization more coherent, fit for purpose, and effective through meaningful reforms, concrete action, and visible results that people can trust.
His remarks come as the United Nations continues to face growing demands to respond more effectively to conflicts, humanitarian crises, climate change, and other global challenges.
