The Kabul Tribune (KT) — An increasing number of children suffering from severe acute malnutrition are being admitted to inpatient therapeutic feeding centers supported or operated by the humanitarian group Médecins Sans Frontières in southern Afghanistan, the organization said.

In a post on X, the medical aid group said the surge in admissions points to a worsening food security situation affecting families across the region.

MSF said the growing number of severely malnourished children seeking treatment underscores the deteriorating conditions many people in Afghanistan are facing as they struggle to access enough nutritious food. The organization warned that the trend reflects broader humanitarian challenges and highlights the urgent need for sustained assistance to vulnerable communities.

The group did not provide specific figures for the increase or identify the provinces most affected.
