The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Iranian cyberattacks targeting Israel have increased significantly since the launch of the U.S.-Israeli military offensive against Iran this year, Reuters reported, citing Israel's top cyber security official.
Yossi Karadi, director general of Israel's National Cyber
Directorate, told German newspaper Die Welt that Israeli authorities recorded
about 4,800 hostile cyber incidents in June 2026, compared with approximately
1,600 incidents during the same month in 2025, when Israel conducted military
operations against Iran.
According to Reuters, Karadi said some of the groups behind
the attacks are highly sophisticated and should be taken seriously.
"Unlike in the kinetic realm, there's no ceasefire in
cyberspace," Karadi said.
He said the cyberattacks targeted critical infrastructure,
government institutions, small and medium-sized businesses and members of the
public. Law firms and accounting firms were among the smaller organizations
affected, he added.
Karadi said Israeli authorities have so far succeeded in
preventing attacks against the country's critical infrastructure but noted that
organizations with weaker cyber defenses have experienced severe disruptions,
including the destruction of computer systems.
Reuters noted that Iran has consistently denied conducting
cyberattacks against other countries while frequently reporting that it has
itself been targeted by cyber operations.
