The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has commended Donald Trump for what he described as “extraordinary efforts” to promote peace, following a high-level telephone call with leaders from several countries.

In a statement, Sharif said the call included officials from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkiye, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan and Pakistan, focusing on the current regional situation and ways to advance ongoing peace initiatives.

He noted that Pakistan was represented in the discussions by Syed Asim Munir, whom he praised for his role and continued efforts throughout the process.

According to Sharif, the talks provided an opportunity for participating countries to exchange views on promoting stability and achieving lasting peace in the region.

He added that Pakistan would continue its peace efforts with “utmost sincerity” and expressed hope that the country would host the next round of talks in the near future.
