The Kabul Tribune (KT) — The Taliban Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation said 527 Afghan nationals were released from prisons in Pakistan and returned to Afghanistan during the past week.
In a statement issued Thursday, the ministry said the
individuals had been detained due to a lack of legal documentation.
According to the statement, the released prisoners
re-entered Afghanistan through the Chaman–Spin Boldak crossing and the Torkham
Border Crossing. After receiving initial assistance, they were transported to
their home provinces.
The ministry added that a similar process took place last
week, when 334 Afghan detainees were released from Pakistani prisons and
returned to the country.
The releases come amid ongoing detentions of undocumented
Afghan migrants in Pakistan, as authorities there continue to enforce
immigration regulations targeting foreign nationals without valid residency
documents.
