The Kabul Tribune (KT) — The Taliban say three electricity transmission and distribution projects worth AFN 1.12 billion have been launched in Faryab province.

According to a statement from the Taliban’s economic deputy office, the projects were initiated on Tuesday and include extending electricity from the provincial center to Belcheragh and Garziwan districts.

The projects also involve the construction of a substation in Belcheragh district and the expansion of electricity networks in Belcheragh and Pashtunkot districts.

The office said the projects are expected to be completed within three years by private companies and then handed over for operation.

Once completed, the projects are expected to provide electricity to about 670,535 consumers across three provinces, according to the statement.
