The Kabul Tribune (KT) - The organization “Polio Free Afghanistan” says that a nationwide polio vaccination campaign began on Monday across 31 provinces of the country.

The organization stated that the campaign will be conducted throughout Afghanistan, except in Daykundi and Bamyan provinces due to cold weather. In Ghor province, the campaign will be launched one week later.

Polio is a highly contagious viral disease that mainly affects children under the age of five and can cause permanent paralysis.

Afghanistan and Pakistan are among the countries where polio has not yet been completely eradicated.
