The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Both Pakistan and the Taliban have reported heavy casualties in the ongoing border clashes between their forces.
The Taliban’s Ministry
of Defense claimed on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, that during retaliatory
operations against Pakistan, hundreds of Pakistani soldiers were killed or
wounded. According to the statement, Taliban security forces targeted multiple
Pakistani military bases and installations along the border, capturing and
destroying several positions. The ministry also dismissed Pakistani claims of
significant Afghan losses as unfounded.
In contrast,
Pakistan’s Information Minister, Attaullah Tarar, said that 641 members of the
Taliban and Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) have been killed, with more than
855 others wounded since the clashes began. He added that 243 security posts
were destroyed, while another 42 were captured and later demolished.
Tarar further claimed
that 219 tanks, armored vehicles, and artillery units were destroyed during the
operations, and 65 Taliban bases and support centers across Afghanistan were
targeted in airstrikes.
The conflicting
reports highlight the continuing intensity of the cross-border fighting and the
difficulty of verifying casualty figures independently.
