The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian held a phone conversation with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to discuss rising regional tensions and the ongoing conflict involving the United States and Israel, according to Iran’s Tasnim News Agency.
During the call, President Pezeshkian said Iran does not
intend to engage in conflict with other regional countries and seeks stability
and cooperation with its neighbors. He added that Iranian strikes on U.S. bases
are conducted within the framework of self-defense and warned that any military
base used to launch attacks against Iran could be considered a legitimate
target.
The Iranian president also noted that Tehran had previously
attempted negotiations with Washington to resolve disputes but faced
U.S.–Israeli attacks during these efforts.
Prime Minister Sharif condemned the U.S. and Israeli strikes
on Iran and expressed solidarity with the Iranian government and people. He
also highlighted Pakistan’s interest in strengthening bilateral relations and
enhancing cooperation among Muslim countries in the region.
