The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Al Jazeera reported that U.S. President Donald Trump said it is “too late” for talks with Iran as Israel carries out strikes in Tehran and Beirut, escalating tensions across the Middle East.
According to the report, Israel said it is conducting
“simultaneous strikes in Tehran and Beirut,” targeting Iranian military sites
and the Iran-backed group Hezbollah, as its forces intensify operations in
Lebanon. The United Nations has also confirmed damage to a nuclear facility in
Iran for the first time since the United States and Israel launched military
attacks on the country.
The report said the United States has closed its embassies
in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait and reduced its diplomatic presence in the region as
Iran continues to target U.S. positions and allies in the Middle East.
Washington has also warned Americans to leave more than a dozen countries in
the region.
Trump said Iran is seeking talks with the United States as
military operations continue, but indicated he believes the opportunity for
negotiations has passed. The report noted that his administration has shifted
its stated objectives and issued conflicting messages since the start of the operation.
