The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Fox News reported that three U.S. Air Force F-15E Strike Eagles were shot down by Kuwaiti air defenses late Sunday in what U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) described as a friendly fire incident during operations linked to Operation Epic Fury.
CENTCOM said the aircraft were mistakenly engaged amid a
complex combat environment involving attacks from Iranian aircraft, ballistic
missiles, and drones. All six crew members ejected safely, were quickly
recovered, and are reported to be in stable condition.
Kuwaiti officials have confirmed the incident, and an
investigation is underway to determine the cause. CENTCOM said additional
details are expected as the review progresses.
Operation Epic Fury involves ongoing coalition air operations in the region,
with U.S. and allied forces responding to threats from regional actors and
extremist groups. Friendly fire incidents, though rare, highlight the risks of
operating in dense and contested airspaces where multiple threats are present
simultaneously.
