The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran condemned Israeli airstrikes on southern Lebanon and Beirut’s southern suburbs, accusing Israel of breaching Lebanon’s sovereignty and violating a November 2024 ceasefire agreement.

In a statement posted on X, ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said the strikes killed more than 30 people, including two children, and injured 149 Lebanese citizens.

Baghaei said the attacks constituted repeated violations of Lebanon’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as the ceasefire reached in November 2024. He also criticized what he described as the silence of countries that advocate for the rule of law and human rights.

The spokesperson warned that continued inaction by the international community could contribute to further instability and threaten international peace. He expressed condolences to the families of the victims and to the government and people of Lebanon.

There was no immediate response from Israeli officials regarding the claims.

The latest strikes come amid heightened regional tensions linked to the ongoing conflict in Gaza and increasing cross-border hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah.

Southern Lebanon and Beirut’s southern suburbs have repeatedly been targeted in recent exchanges, raising fears of a broader confrontation that could draw in regional actors. Diplomatic efforts by European and regional mediators have so far failed to secure a lasting de-escalation.
