The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Pakistani newspaper Express Tribune reported that security forces killed 34 militants in separate intelligence-based operations (IBOs) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, citing a statement from the military’s media wing.
According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the
operations were conducted as part of ongoing counterterrorism efforts.
The military said 26 militants were killed in four separate
engagements in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while eight others were killed during an
operation in Balochistan.
In North Waziristan’s Hassan Khel area near the
Pakistan-Afghanistan border, security forces detected what they described as an
attempted infiltration. One militant was killed in the exchange of fire and was
identified as an Afghan national, the statement said.
Separate operations in Lakki Marwat resulted in the killing
of three militants. In Bannu district’s Narmi Khel area, 10 militants were
killed in two engagements, while 12 others were killed in an operation in the
Mir Ali area of North Waziristan, according to ISPR.
In Balochistan’s Zhob district, eight militants were killed
following an exchange of fire in the Sambaza area.
The military said weapons and ammunition were recovered from
the killed militants and that clearance operations were ongoing.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the security forces
for what he described as successful operations against militant groups.
There was no immediate response from the groups mentioned in
the military statement.
