The Kabul Tribune (KT) - Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari said the country’s recent actions inside Afghanistan reflect its right to defend its citizens against cross-border terrorism.

Citing the latest United Nations Security Council (UNSC) report, Zardari warned that those responsible for bloodshed inside Pakistan “will not remain beyond reach.”

In a statement, he said the strikes were carried out after repeated warnings that, according to him, were not addressed by the Taliban authorities.

He added that the continued presence and activities of militant groups operating from Afghan territory under Taliban administration violate the commitments outlined in the Doha Agreement, which stipulates that Afghan soil must not be used against any country.

Meanwhile, Taliban officials say that at least 20 civilians, including women and children, were killed in Pakistan’s recent strikes inside Afghanistan.

Pakistani authorities, however, maintain that the attacks targeted militant centers and hideouts.
