The Kabul Tribune (KT) - A new round of talks between Russia, Ukraine, and the United States over the Ukraine conflict will take place in Geneva, Switzerland, on February 17-18, TASS reported.

Previous rounds were held in Abu Dhabi on January 23-24 and February 4-5, focusing mainly on military and security issues. The Geneva talks are expected to cover a broader range of topics. Vladimir Medinsky, who led Russia’s negotiating team in 2022 and 2025, will head the delegation again.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said President Vladimir Putin has given detailed instructions to the negotiators and remains in constant contact with them.

This will be the first time Russia participates in Ukraine talks in Western Europe. Switzerland has pledged safe passage for the Russian delegation. Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis visited Moscow on February 6 to discuss preparations with Russian officials, helping to pave the way for Geneva as the new venue.

Little information about the talks has been released. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that private, results-focused discussions are more effective. The agenda is expected to cover political issues, territories, key demands, and possibly an energy truce, TASS reported.
