The Kabul Tribune (KT) — President Donald J. Trump said he held a “very good”
meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his representatives,
emphasizing that negotiations with Iran should continue to determine whether a
deal can be reached.
In a statement posted on social media, Trump said the
relationship between the United States and Israel remains strong and described
the meeting as productive. He noted that no definitive decisions were made, but
he insisted that diplomatic talks with Iran should proceed to assess the
possibility of reaching an agreement.
“If it can, I let the Prime Minister know that will be a
preference,” Trump said, referring to the potential for a negotiated deal with
Tehran. He added that if negotiations fail, “we will just have to see what the
outcome will be.”
Trump also referenced a previous instance when, according to
him, Iran chose not to make a deal and was subsequently “hit with Midnight
Hammer,” suggesting that the outcome was unfavorable for Tehran. He expressed
hope that Iranian leaders would act more “reasonable and responsible” in future
negotiations.
Additionally, Trump said the discussions with Netanyahu
included developments in Gaza and the broader Middle East region. He claimed
that significant progress is being made and asserted that “there is truly peace
in the Middle East.”
The statement comes amid ongoing regional tensions and
diplomatic efforts involving Iran, Israel and other key stakeholders in the
Middle East.
