The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Taliban-run National Television says that nearly 23,000 tons of pomegranates were exported from Kandahar province to several foreign countries during the current solar year.
The broadcaster said in a statement on Thursday, Jan. 29,
that Kandahar pomegranates were exported to Pakistan, India, Saudi Arabia,
Malaysia, Uzbekistan, Russia, Kazakhstan, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar.
The report comes as the border between Afghanistan and
Pakistan has remained closed for several months. Taliban officials claim that
the closure has not had a significant impact on the country’s imports and
exports, citing the establishment of alternative trade routes.
