The Kabul Tribune (KT) - António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, says that the rule of law is the foundation of the UN and its mission to achieve just and lasting global peace.
In a post on X, Guterres wrote that he is determined to continue the United Nations’ relentless efforts to achieve a just and sustainable peace—one that is firmly anchored in international law.
The UN chief added that real peace can only endure when the root causes of conflicts are addressed, rather than merely dealing with their symptoms.
He stressed that disregard for international law and the weakening of the rule of law seriously undermine efforts to secure global peace and leave the international order vulnerable.
