The Kabul Tribune (KT) — A Missouri man of Afghan origin has been charged with first-degree murder in the killing of his wife, according to U.S. media reports.
Authorities say Malang J. Akbari, 46, was arrested and is
being held without bond in the Cole County Jail after allegedly shooting his
wife.
Police found the victim bleeding and unresponsive at the
family’s home on McCarty Street on Monday. Akbari left the scene but was later
located in Pettis County, law enforcement said.
According to the probable cause statement, the suspect called
his young son before fleeing and admitted to killing his wife, claiming he
believed she was cheating and tampering with his food.
The couple’s 18-month-old boy was found safe with relatives
and is now without his parents, authorities said.
Akbari has also been charged with armed criminal action and
child endangerment related to the incident.
