The Kabul Tribune (KT) - Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Foreign Minister, has strongly criticized Germany, saying it is “perhaps the worst placed” of all governments to speak on human rights.

Araghchi accused Germany of blatant double standards over the years, which he said have undermined its credibility. “When Iran defeats terrorists who kill civilians and police officers, the German Chancellor rushes to declare that violence is an expression of weakness,” he wrote.

He also questioned Germany’s support for Israel’s military actions, citing the killing of 70,000 Palestinians in Gaza, and accused Chancellor Friedrich Merz of praising Israel for bombing homes and businesses in Iran last summer. Araghchi further condemned Germany for staying silent on the recent U.S. kidnapping of a foreign head of state.

He called on Germany to “have some shame” and urged it to stop interfering in Iran and the region, including what he described as its support for genocide and terrorism.
