The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Rajasthan Police have detained one suspect in Gujarat in connection with the alleged abduction and gang-rape of an 18-year-old girl inside a moving car in Bikaner district on Jan. 6, The Times of India reported on Monday, Jan. 13.
The accused is being brought to Bikaner for questioning,
while authorities continue searching for a second suspect and the vehicle used
in the crime. According to the police complaint lodged by the victim’s family,
the girl was on her way to school when the incident occurred.
Police said the two accused, one of whom was known to the
victim, lured her into a car by promising to drop her at school. “Since one of
the youths was an acquaintance, she trusted him,” a senior officer at Napasar
police station in Bikaner said.
After committing the crime, the suspects dropped the girl
near her home, from where she returned safely. The family reported the matter
to police five days later, on Sunday, leading to the registration of a First
Information Report (FIR) under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for kidnapping
and gang-rape.
Bikaner Superintendent of Police Kavendra Sagar said the
detained suspect will be thoroughly questioned, and legal action will follow
based on collected evidence. The victim has been sent for a medical
examination.
