The Kabul Tribune (KT) — Pakistan’s Information Minister Ataullah Tarar has criticized remarks made by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, accusing him of aligning with what he described as the Taliban’s narrative on Afghanistan-related security issues.
In a post on X on Monday, Jan. 12, 2026, Tarar said Afridi’s
comments were inappropriate and argued that international actors have raised concerns
about militant groups operating from Afghan territory. He said Pakistan has
made significant sacrifices in confronting terrorism and accused political
opponents of creating confusion on the country’s security policy.
Tarar also said militant violence has targeted Pakistan’s
development efforts and urged political leaders to act responsibly when
addressing sensitive national security matters.
Afridi has not publicly responded to the criticism, and
independent sources have not verified the claims raised by either side.
