The Kabul Tribune (KT) — India’s foreign ministry on Monday advised its nationals to avoid non-essential travel to Iran until further notice, citing recent developments in the country.
In a travel advisory issued on January 5, 2026, the Ministry
of External Affairs said Indian citizens and Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs)
currently in Iran should exercise caution, avoid areas where protests or
demonstrations are taking place, and closely monitor updates from the Indian
Embassy in Tehran through official channels.
The ministry also urged Indian nationals residing in Iran on
resident visas to register with the Indian Embassy if they have not already
done so.
The advisory was released from New Delhi amid heightened
regional uncertainties, though Indian authorities did not provide further
details on the specific developments prompting the warning.
