The Kabul Tribune (KT) — The Atlantic magazine reports that
U.S. President Donald Trump on Sunday warned Venezuelan Vice President Delcy
Rodríguez that she could pay a heavier price than ousted leader Nicolas Maduro
“if she doesn’t do what’s right.”
In a telephone interview with The Atlantic, conducted as
Trump arrived at his West Palm Beach golf course in Florida, the U.S. president
said: “If she doesn’t do what’s right, she is going to pay a very big price,
probably bigger than Maduro.”
Trump defended his decision to seize Nicolas Maduro by
force, telling The Atlantic: “You know, rebuilding there and regime change,
anything you want to call it, is better than what you have right now. It can’t
get any worse.”
He also warned that U.S. intervention could extend to other
countries, saying in the same interview: “We do need Greenland, absolutely,”
referring to the island that is part of Denmark, a NATO member.
Earlier, Trump had praised Delcy Rodríguez, but she later
said Venezuela would defend its natural resources and the Maduro government.
